{"id":1549,"date":"2011-10-11T20:08:09","date_gmt":"2011-10-12T01:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1549"},"modified":"2011-10-11T20:14:13","modified_gmt":"2011-10-12T01:14:13","slug":"tenn-tom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/w0ep.us\/OM\/?p=1549","title":{"rendered":"Tenn-Tom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 2 miles with wife and dog]<\/p>\n<p>Our house is about 3 miles west of the Tombigbee river.\u00a0 In 1984 the<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tennessee%E2%80%93Tombigbee_Waterway\"> Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway project<\/a> was completed, joining the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tennessee_River\">Tennessee river<\/a> with the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tombigbee_River\">Tombigbee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Tombigbee flow south,\u00a0 eventually into Mobile Bay on the Gulf of Mexico.\u00a0 The Tennessee flows north into the Ohio and that flows west into the Mississippi.\u00a0 If I had a canoe and a whole bunch of time, I could put it in about 3 miles east of here and go in a<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Loop\"> big circle<\/a> by using the Tenn-Tom and the Mississippi.\u00a0 I could do an even bigger circle by going up to Chicago, through the Great Lakes and back around on the Alantic coast.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow I&#8217;m going to fly out from the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, about 5 miles west of here, go to Atlanta and then to Denver.<\/p>\n<p>I could drive to Denver by using <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/US_82\">Highway 82 <\/a>which travels from the Atlantic on the Georgia coast,\u00a0 passes within 4\u00a0 miles of my house,\u00a0 all the way to\u00a0 Alamogordo, NM.\u00a0 Then I would have to go north to finish in Denver.<\/p>\n<p>So you may think that I live in a backwater part of the country and usually I would agree.\u00a0 But things really aren&#8217;t that far away if I feel the need to go somewhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Today&#8217;s run: 2 miles with wife and dog] Our house is about 3 miles west of the Tombigbee river.\u00a0 In 1984 the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway project was completed, joining the Tennessee river with the Tombigbee.
