[today’s run: 1.5 miles + with wife]<\/p>\n
We have a dog.<\/p>\n
He actually does pretty well inside the house.\u00a0 He doesn’t make messes, he eats his food, he doesn’t bite people.\u00a0 He is a little bit obnoxious but not too bad as far as dogs go.<\/p>\n
Inside he can follow commands like “sit” and “down”.\u00a0 But if you let him out of the house he turns into a “chase me” monster.\u00a0 He weaves and dodges and tries to get you to reach for him only to jump out of the way and zoom around for another few minutes. I get so angry at him sometimes that I could just scream.\u00a0 But 49 year old men are not supposed to scream, much.<\/p>\n
My most recent successes at capturing him have been by using the long rope that I lead him with when we go for a run.\u00a0 He will zoom around just out of my reach and I can sometimes lasso him.<\/p>\n
I think what I need to do is buy about a 10′ x 10′ net. Then I can throw the net over him.<\/p>\n
Another strategy that sometimes works is to back the car out of the garage.\u00a0 He loves to ride in the car.\u00a0 He loves to even just sit in the car.\u00a0 So if I back out the car and open the door he usually will come and want in.\u00a0 I can then grab him, or, if I’m kindly disposed I load him up,\u00a0 pull into the garage and shut the garage door.\u00a0 Or, I can open the garage door and the car door, then wait for him to come to the car and shut the garage door.\u00a0 That gets him a little closer.<\/p>\n
Once he knows he is caught than he comes right in with no problem.\u00a0 Ha ha, the game is over.<\/p>\n
Maybe it would help to get one of those remote-zap collars.\u00a0 If I set it high enough it would be like the phaser on Star Trek, “set phasers to stun!”\u00a0 and he would just fall unconscious on the ground.\u00a0 That’s a tempting idea.. probably get me in trouble with the ASPCA so maybe we’ll go with the net first.<\/p>\n
