I wrote back in April about buying things on the GSA auction website.<\/p>\n
There are 4 government auction websites that I have used:<\/p>\n
www.govliquidation.com<\/a> is a private company that buys stuff in bulk from the Department of Defense and then sells it to individuals and companies from their website.\u00a0 Over the years their prices have edged up and most of the stuff I am interested in now has a $150 starting bid.\u00a0\u00a0 In the past I purchased a few things from them.\u00a0 My main oscilloscope came from one of their sales.\u00a0 But I don’t go there very much any more.\u00a0 Just too expensive for me.<\/p>\n www.gsaauctions.gov<\/a> is from the federal General Services Administration.\u00a0 I have purchased just a couple of things through this site.\u00a0 They don’t have a lot of volume so the selection is not as good as govliquidation.\u00a0 But the prices are more in line with my expectations.\u00a0 They do have some electronics and quite a bit of computer stuff.\u00a0 They have a lot of vehicles.\u00a0 If you ever wondered how they got rid of all of those FEMA trailers after hurricane Katrina?\u00a0 now you know.<\/p>\n A new one for me is www.govdeals.com<\/a> They have a nice feature that will let me search for all auctions within a certain distance from one zip code.\u00a0 They appear to be more state and local government stuff, even less volume than GSA, and an eclectic mix.\u00a0 A lot of retired police cars.\u00a0 Probably a good place to find a tractor too.<\/p>\n
