Piling up stuff for the hamfest

[Today’s run: 3.4 miles]

I’ve started making a pile of stuff I want to take to the flea market at the Jackson hamfest later this month.

I have a number of radios and projects that either I never use or need some attention that I am unwilling to give. So off they go. I’m in a bit of a downsizing mood.

Your posts about having stuff reminds me of those TV shows about hoarders – which is an extreme. There is also a show with this tiny Japanese woman in America who helps people declutter and her second thing is to have people put all their clothes in a pile. There are some very big piles! Then she says keep whatever brings you joy and thank and discard the rest. I’d be naked. Clothes don’t bring me joy. Anyway, I’m amazed most by middle-aged downsizes where there are only two people in a house yet the house is full of stuff. The garage, too.

My boss, also a bit of a recreational runner in times past, noted something that has happened to both of us. All through life we had a steady stream of getting new t-shirts and stuff because things wore out from recreational activities. Somewhere in our 40s all of this must have stopped because we both have closets full of 20 year old t-shirts.
